How Tlatsa collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information.
This Privacy Policy explains how Tlatsa Technologies (Pty) Ltd (“Tlatsa,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Tlatsa Customer App, Tlatsa Driver App, Tlatsa Station Portal, or related websites (together, the “Services”). It applies to customers, delivery partners (drivers), fuel-station staff, and website visitors.
Tlatsa is a technology marketplace. We connect motorists with independently licensed and compliant fuel-delivery operators and participating fuel stations. Tlatsa does not itself buy, store, or physically transport fuel.
Tlatsa Technologies (Pty) Ltd is the entity responsible for the Tlatsa platform and acts as the data controller for personal information processed through the Services, except where a delivery partner, fuel station, or payment provider acts as an independent controller for their own records (see A6).

We process personal information on the following bases, consistent with the Data Protection Act, 2024:
| Recipient | What is shared | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Matched delivery partner (driver) | Your name, delivery location, contact number, order details | To fulfil the delivery |
| Fuel station (where relevant) | Order details relevant to fuel dispensed | To fulfil the order |
| Licensed payment provider | Payment amount and method; payment confirmation is received back from them | To process payment — Tlatsa does not hold or process card/account numbers itself |
| Cloud hosting & infrastructure providers | Data necessary to operate the Services | Hosting, storage, security |
| Regulators & authorities | As required | Legal compliance, e.g. BERA, DRTS, Bank of Botswana, tax authorities |
| Professional advisers | As necessary | Legal, audit, and insurance purposes |
We do not sell personal information to third parties.
Location data is central to how Tlatsa works — it is used to find nearby stations, match you with a nearby delivery partner, calculate delivery fees and ETAs, and provide live tracking. You can control location permissions through your device settings; disabling location access will limit or prevent use of core ordering features. Driver location is captured continuously while the driver is online, for matching, safety, and dispatch purposes. Granular location trails are retained only for as long as necessary for delivery execution, dispute resolution, and any applicable legal retention period (see A8).
| Data category | Indicative retention |
|---|---|
| Account & profile data | For as long as your account is active, plus a limited period after closure for legal/accounting purposes |
| Order & transaction records | As required by applicable tax and accounting law (typically several years) |
| Driver compliance documents | For the duration of the driver’s activity on the platform, plus any legally required retention period after |
| Granular GPS trails | Limited period necessary for delivery execution and dispute resolution, then deleted or aggregated |
| Marketing consent records | Until you withdraw consent, plus a record of that withdrawal |
Exact retention periods will be finalised in the Tlatsa internal Data Retention Policy and confirmed with legal counsel.
